Dental Implants

What is Dental Implant?

インプラント治療

Implant treatment enables to restore a lost tooth to the same degree as the original one esthetically and functionally without imposing any burden on your own teeth.
Only bridges and dentures were used until the introduction of implant treatment. So, there have been many disadvantages such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, and discomfort and pain in chewing.
You can chew food firmly as teeth become stable after the treatment,. Also, you feel as if you regained your original tooth because the feel of chewing is transmitted to your chin.

Flow of Implant Treatment

We will conduct the first consultation and precise examinations for the treatment (the latest CT scanning). Based on your data and your request, we will propose a treatment plan which does not impose any burden on you.

The flow of implant treatment is as follows.

  • An implant is surgically placed. After that, wait for 2 to 4 months to be integrated to the born. (For 2 to 3 months for under jaw, and for 3 to 4 months for upper jaw)
  • Make a special molding, and a crown is attached to the implant. (It takes about one week to be completed)
  • Regular checkup once every three months are required. We check the condition and occlusion of the implant.

Benefits of Implant Treatment

インプラント治療

The most outstanding merit of implant treatment is that it gives comfort when chewing food as if you restored a natural tooth because dental implant is fixed firmly in bones. Dental implants can be used permanently, and they are unnoticeable as artificial teeth because it looks the same as your original teeth.

Q & A on Dental Implants

We answer the questions about dental implants in Q & A form as follows.

Q: Can anyone receive an implant treatment?

Implant treatment is available for anyone unless you have any severe systemic diseases or health problems. There is no call for you to worry as the dentists will examine thoroughly to determine whether the treatment is possible or not.

Q: How long is the period of therapy?

It takes about 2 to 3 months for the lower jaw and 3 to 4 months for the upper jaw. The duration varies depending on the conditions.

Q: How long is the estimated usable period?

If you continue to take regular dental examinations after the treatment, it will be usable as long as your natural teeth.
Because of its long life, we call dental implants the second permanent tooth. Crowns (upper structure) can be replaced as necessary.

Q: Is it painful during the implant treatment?

We will give you painless anesthesia. There is almost no pain during the treatment. Just like an extraction treatment, it may be swollen or painful for two or three days after the procedure. However, generally it is less painful than extractions. Please be at ease; we can prescribe medications such as pain stoppers and antispasmodics.

Q: Are there any impacts on diagnostic imaging such as MRI and CT?

Dental implants used titanium or titanium alloys does not affect MRI images. However, if its structure includes a magnet on the top of the implant, the MRI images may be disturbed.
Medical image diagnosis of CT scans may be affected.
